LEARNING WITH COURSERA

In this unit of English for Career Development, I learned about the essential steps in the job search process. I was introduced to various job search strategies, including how to effectively present myself to potential employers. The unit provided valuable insights into defining and using key vocabulary related to careers, job searching, and workplace terminology. I also learned how to identify word forms to expand my vocabulary, which will be useful in my job search and future career.

A key aspect of the unit was comparing and contrasting the job search process in the U.S. with my home country, which allowed me to see how the job market differs across cultures. We also reviewed a variety of texts and multimedia sources that provided practical examples of job applications, resumes, and interviews. Through quizzes and discussion board responses, I demonstrated my understanding of these concepts and practiced using phrases to compare and contrast.

I also revirwed the difference between the simple present and present progressive tenses, which are important for clearly communicating about the job search process. This first module has been really informative, and I feel it has laid a solid foundation for my future career development.
